Site-specific Design Practice
A Cosmogram for Sayes Court
Deptford, London Borough of Lewisham 2023

This cosmogrammatic video narrative is the S-LAB team’s response to develop design research materials from site-specific investigations for Field Office’s Workshop 01: Sayes Court. The video is based on fieldwork during site visits to Sayes Court and the Convoys Wharf development in London, discussions with diverse community organisers, design practices, academics, and researchers based in the UK, the US, Germany, Denmark, and Italy. This work is part of a research strand on participatory processes, public space, and exclusionary governance in design and urbanism, partially funded by the Research Impact and Public Engagement Fund, at the School of Science, Engineering and Environment, University of Salford.

Team: S-LAB (Salford Laboratory of Architecture) comprising students Raeven Branch, Danielle Wright, Hafid Raza, Sehar Ahmed, Matthew Turner, Yesu Sarcauga, Megan Tate, Connor Harris, and Dr Fadi Shayya, Lecturer in Architecture & Urbanism.
